Action Required – Preparing for Your Waterfall Installation

Required action items to complete before your AWS waterfall installation.

Advanced Waterfall Systems (AWS) walks pool and landscape contractors through the five essential steps required before starting a medium or large waterfall installation. Backed by 25 years of experience, the process covers watching the training videos, reading the installation plans, creating templates when needed, moving heavy components with proper equipment, and completing cement work including pointing and patching. Bilingual support and Spanish-language training videos are also available for crews. Skipping these steps is described as a recipe for failure on the job site.

What You'll Learn

  • Smaller AWS systems are buy-and-install straightforward; medium and large systems require a few additional preparation steps that take only a couple of hours to learn
  • Watch all AWS training videos before starting — 25 years of experience are baked into them, and skipping them invites problems on the job site
  • Read and understand the installation plans that AWS sends with your order before work begins
  • Some jobs require a simple site template; any field worker can complete it in about an hour or two using the dedicated templating training video
  • Use proper lifting equipment such as a skid steer, excavator, or telehandler for heavy components — a dedicated lifting and rigging training video covers this
  • Cement work is required on every installation: pointing between rocks and patching single rock panels, all covered in the training materials

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to learn the entire AWS installation process?

Chuck states it takes a couple of hours to learn the entire AWS process by watching the training videos.

Do I need special equipment to install a medium or large AWS system?

Yes. You will need proper heavy-lifting equipment such as a skid steer, excavator, or telehandler to move components safely. AWS has a dedicated lifting and rigging training video that walks you through it.

What cement work is involved in an AWS waterfall installation?

You will need to do pointing between the rocks and patch the single rock panels. Both tasks are covered in the AWS training videos.

What if landscaping tasks like topsoil, boulders, and stone steps aren't my specialty?

AWS recommends bringing in a landscape subcontractor for those tasks if they are outside your expertise. There is also a dedicated landscape guidelines training video to help you understand what is involved.

Does AWS offer support for Spanish-speaking crews?

Yes. AWS has bilingual team members who can communicate directly with your crew on the job site, and all training videos are available in Spanish as well.

Thank you for your interest in Advanced Waterfall Systems. There are some things you need to know before you begin. So you've got a customer who wants a waterfall. I know you're busy, so I'm gonna make this quick. Our smaller AWS systems are easy.

You buy them. You install them. Done. Our medium and large AWS systems have a couple more steps. Now before you tune out, this is not complicated.

It takes a couple of hours to learn the entire AWS process. And these are high margin jobs, so it's worth your time. Here's what's involved. Number one, watch the videos. We have been doing this for twenty five years.

We cover what you need to know. We made them for a reason. If you don't watch the videos, you're asking for trouble. Two, understand the plans we send you and read them. Number three, in some cases, you'll need to make a simple template.

Don't panic. Watch the templating video. It's straightforward, and any field guy can do it in an hour or two. Four, you'll need to move heavy stuff with the proper equipment, like a skid steer excavator or telehand. We've got a lifting and rigging video for that.

Five, you'll need to do some cement work, including pointing between the rocks and patching the single rock panels. Training videos cover it all. And depending on the job, you may have some landscape tasks, topsoil, loose boulders, stone steps. If dirt and rock isn't your world, bring in a landscape guy. We've got a video for that too.

We're here to help. We've got bilingual team members so your Latino crew can talk directly to ours. That's a huge win on the job site. Our training videos are available in Spanish as well. What we can't help with is when you don't read the emails, don't watch the videos, and don't do the homework, and then call us on the job site asking what to do.

That is a recipe for failure. Watch the videos. They're worth the time. These are high profit jobs, and they help you sell more pools too. Any questions?
