How far forward should a two-tier waterfall panel be pitched during installation?

How do I prevent cement from falling into the pool during two-tier installation?

If the pool is filled, catch excess mortar by hand as it squeezes out during panel placement. You can also tape plastic sheeting across the pool front before setting the panel. Any mortar that enters the pool should be brushed into the returns or vacuumed out immediately.

What is bentonite water stop and when is it used in a two-tier system?

Thank you for your interest in Advanced Waterfall Systems. Welcome to our training video library. Important note, make sure that you watch all of our safety videos, especially our lifting and rigging safety video to ensure that all of your installations are safe. Today, we're covering two tier waterfall installation. In this video, you'll see three different configurations, a one piece, a two piece, and a three piece split system.

Every installation starts with a proper concrete footing. Whether it's a fiberglass, vinyl, or concrete pool, the footing must match the engineered plans. Proper support is critical. All systems are secured to customize pallets and delivered directly to your job site. Each component is clearly numbered, labeled, and includes proper lifting points.

This configuration is a one piece two tiered unit. The bottom and top tiers are integrated. It's heavier, but faster to install because it's only one panel. Alright. So our team brought this unit in, and they set it in place.

So what we do is you set it down, k, concrete on concrete, dry, and then you put a level on it. Right? You see the guys put a level on the front waterfall and that section in the back. Boom. In this case, it was a little bit off.

So then we shimmed it, lift it up a little bit, got it level, and now it's dry fit level. Then we pick it up with the machine, put some cement down, and drop it down into the cement. It's gonna squash the cement out. If you have a lot of cement on the edge, you're gonna get some cement in the pool. Okay?

If the pool's full, not the end of the world. You can keep your hand to catch some of it. Sometimes we'll put plastic down. We'll tape plastic across the front to catch the cement from going in the pool, and, you brush it into the returns or you vacuum it out. Right?

As long as you catch it right away, it's not a problem. Stay tuned to watch these guys do the cement work, and then what they're gonna do is they're gonna point across the front and kinda finish it right across the front so it looks pretty. First, dry fit the unit directly onto the concrete footing and check for proper alignment. Place a level across the waterfalls to ensure they are level left to right. Pitch the panel forward approximately a half inch to ensure proper water flow.

Lift the unit and apply mortar to the footing. Reset the panel in place. Some mortar may squeeze out. If the pool is filled, catch excess by hand. Use plastic protection if needed and clean immediately.

Alright. So this is the second tier of the waterfall. This is designed to fit inside the bottom tier. See that curve right there that goes around? It's four inches higher.

This is gonna fit like a key right inside there. Right? So it's impossible for it to leak because the water's coming out the front right here. Everything is designed to bring the water this way, and there's a four inch high channel on the back or a four inch high curve on the backside. So this is gonna fit right inside there.

Okay. You'll see the lifting points. There is the two lifting points on the back that are tied into the structure, and then we have two supplemental lifting points right here. We have holes in the front. The idea is you put these pins in, and you run these cables and you attach it here and here, and it balances out.

So it stops it because this is front heavy. Right? If you didn't have these two, it would lean forward. So it gives it supplemental balance. Right?

You put this in, put these in, and you kinda level it out, and it allows you to bring this up level so it goes in nice and easy. Finish by pointing the front for a clean appearance. This next configuration is a two piece, two tiered system. The bottom tier is set first, leveled, pitched forward, and mortared into place. For the three piece split system, the bottom tier consists of a front and back panel.

Industrial strength bentonite water stop is installed between the panels to create a watertight seal. Brackets and all thread fasteners are tightened to compress the bentonite and create a watertight seal. The second tier then sits inside the curve. Install the River Rock in the stream bed to create a natural aesthetic and conceal structural components. Complete the installation by mortaring all joints to prevent dirt intrusion.

All plumbing is preinstalled. Only one plumbing connection is required at the rear of the feature. This system has several single rock panels. These are part of our EZ Lifting system where each rock is drilled and fitted with a plate, all thread, rod, and a coupler. This makes it easy to lift and set these panels using the included removable eyeballs.
